General Overview

The Supervisor for Medicare functions under the general supervision of the Unit Manager and is responsible for the supervision, education, and training of all Inpatient, SNF and LTAC Medicare staff. The supervisor will assist the department manager in formulating, prioritizing, and accomplishing the goals and objectives of the department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and audit department policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of quality control programs to accomplish desired goals.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of Medicare rules and regulations as they apply to inpatient, SNF and LTAC billing and follow up.
  • Coordinate the timely billing and/or collection of all Medicare claims, using FISS system as well as payer websites.
  • Develop, evaluate, and review with individual employee annual reviews and monthly QA assessments.
  • Assist manager in individual projects, as needed.

  • Minimum of two years' experience working with the Medicare program.
  • High School diploma required. A Bachelors or Associate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years working in a healthcare receivables environment
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems and organize and prioritize work assignments.
  • Requires high-level verbal and interpersonal skills to deal with insurance and employee problems and communicate effectively with staff and outside parties.
