Reporting to the Director of Public Safety the Public Safety Officer (PSO) Supervisor is responsible to ensure the safety and security of colleagues, patients, visitors, and their property while at Goshen Health. The PSO Supervisor is additionally responsible for protecting corporate assets of Goshen Health and its satellite locations. The PSO Supervisor position is a 24/7 role, with primary responsibility to the Goshen Hospital campus and surrounding Goshen Health facilities. PSO Supervisor will coordinate efforts with colleagues and management to ensure consistent delivery of public safety services for a secure and safe environment, and do it in a courteous, professional manner that lives up to the mission values of Goshen Health.

PSO Supervisor is responsible for patrolling facilities and implementing hospital safety and security policies. This position coordinates efforts with colleagues and management to ensure consistent delivery of Public safety services. This position is responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position assists in the development, implementation and enforcement of Policy and Procedures as they relate to the Public Safety Department and Environment of Care.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Education: Associate degree in related field.
  • Preferred Experience: Reserve or certified police officer or law enforcement, military security/ police experience preferred.
  • Certifications Required: Valid driver’s license.
  • Certifications Preferred:
    • FEMA-IS-100-Intro to Incident Command certificate preferred and required within 3 months of hire.
    • FEMA-IS-200-ICS for single resources certificate preferred and required within 3 months of hire.
    • FEMA-IS-700-National Incident Management System certificate preferred and required within 3 months of hire.
    • FEMA-IS-800 ICS National Response Plan (NRP), an Introduction.
    • FEMA -ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents.
    • FEMA-ICS-400: Advanced ICS Command and General Staff
    • Verbal de-escalation training from CPI or acquired within 3 months.
    • Within One Hundred Eighty (180) days of employment:
      • Successful completion of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), Basic eLearning, Course & Basic Certification for Certified Healthcare Security Officer (Basic). IAHSS Advanced Certified Healthcare Security Officer Training. IAHSS Supervisor Certified Healthcare Security Training. Nationwide SAR Initiative Training – Department of Homeland Security. CPR, First Aid, AED
  • Competencies:
    • Requires ability to frequently stand, walk and climb stairs to patrol grounds and properties as required.
