Job Summary
Works under direction of Materials Management Director. Receives stores and issues office and medical supplies. Delivers requested supplies and equipment to all departments. Performs duplicating functions as necessary.
Role and Responsibilities
- Receives/properly stores all freight designated as stock items of office and medical supplies purchased by the hospital. Inspects materials for quantity and quality of materials received. Separates stock items for storage.
- Use FIFO (First in, First out) method when stocking materials.
- Issues and delivers all items requested or required by all departments in a timely manner. Reviews all supply requisitions for accuracy of required information prior to issuing supplies. Process supply request in a prompt, cooperative and efficient manner.
- Monitors stock levels and notifies purchasing agent of depletion of stock to ensure timely re-order of materials. Performs various storeroom activities such as restocking shelves, and use date and stock rotation. Ensures proper safety and security procedures are incompliance to prevent loss, pilferage, or damage to supplies and injury to personnel.
- Stock and rotate ER supply cart on a daily bases or as needed per patient load.
- Daily receives all incoming mail, interdepartmental mail and sorts according to appropriate destination.
- Daily sorts and weighs all outgoing mail. Affixes appropriate postage using postage meter; ensures that mail is either pickup or transported to post office daily.
- Processes and maintains record of all Federal Express and other priority messenger service mail.
- Replenishes postage for meter and ensures adequate stock of supplies needed for postage machine.
- Reviews daily patient charges for charge errors and corrects any errors that may be discovered through this review.
- Maintains and distributes recalls notices for equipment or supplies as needed. Ensures proper measures are taken to return faulty item to the proper vendor.

The physical activities involve balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, and use of fingers and repetitive movements. An individual in this position may be required to carry or lift weight of up to 50 lbs. and push/pull 100-150 lbs. The sensory and communicative activities required for this position include feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling, and speaking. Individuals in this position could possibly be exposed to inside/outside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens and body fluids, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards and radiological hazards.

Incumbent must be attentive at all times to their own personal safety, as well as the safety of patients, their families, visitors and employees of Drew Memorial Hospital. Hazardous and/or potentially hazardous conditions are to be immediately reported to a member of management.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school graduate or holder of equivalence degree.
- Knowledge of keyboarding and basic computer operation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral situations.
- Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions.
- Ability to organize tasks and time to ensure timely completion of all projects.
- Knowledge of current postage rates and regulations a plus.
