General Purpose:

The Gift Basket Designer provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means creating attractive gift baskets for all occasions, fulfilling customer requests, keeping all displays stocked and rotated, keeping the department clean, and being the final line for quality control in the department.

Reports to: Candy Manager, Candy Supervisor

Job Description:

Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service

Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams

Produce Adams signature baskets and design custom baskets, making sure baskets are color coordinated and have a sense of neatness and balance

If applicable, design and produce fruit bouquets

Keep displays stocked with an attractive array of baskets; create back-stock for the holidays

Take customer and corporate orders both in person and on the phone; suggest options for different occasions and assist corporate clients with decisions for holiday orders

Be responsible for making sure orders get done on time for delivery

Price custom orders

Track inventory and order supplies with manager’s approval

Assist with merchandising the candy displays

Fill self-serve bins as necessary

Make dipped chocolates and lollipops

Wrap selections, label ingredients, and price and bag all items that are repackaged

Rotate products to keep older product in front and stock cases and displays, making sure product is correctly labeled and there are no empty spaces

Be familiar with available product, including specialty products such as sugar-free, gluten-free, and products from nut free facilities

Rotate all products to ensure freshness at all times and regularly check all products for quality

Receive and put away deliveries; check weights for accuracy and match inventory to bill

Inform manager or supervisor when inventory is running low

Be the final line for quality control: look for packaging issues, sell-by dates, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put out for sale

Empty cases and shelves to clean them and load with oldest product in front

Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, cases, preparation and production areas

When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand

If applicable, make specialty drinks, smoothies, shakes and serve ice cream

If assigned, train associates to make baskets

If assigned, supervise associates

Physical Requirements:

Consistently lift and move 50 pounds

Stand for the duration of the shift

Climb up and down a stepstool, stepladder, and ladder

Use hands, wrists, fingers and arms for duration of shift

Safely operate equipment necessary to run the department

Use the compactor and cardboard crusher for disposing of garbage and recycling

Qualifications:

Communicate clearly with customers and co-workers

Employees are our internal customers; treat them with the same courtesy and respect as our external customers

Must work efficiently and at a productive pace per department needs

Must be able to work scheduled shift

Follow all department safety policies and procedures

Be able to concentrate on tasks in order to avoid injury and waste of product

Be knowledgeable about Adams product- recommend ideas to customers by exploring customer preferences and advocating Adams product

Be at least 18 years old

If assigned, get food safety certified
