QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education in the instruction of English Language Learners 9 - 12
- Master’s degree preferred
- At least 5 years successful experience teaching ESL preferred
- Familiarity with WIDA tools and resources, and ACCESS for ELLs
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the
qualifications listed above.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, instruct, and assess English language learners at varying proficiency levels,
to develop their English language skills in all 4 domains, and to build their academic language skills
- Teach one or more sheltered English, history, math or science courses to ELs, to develop both their content knowledge and language skills
- If needed, push-in to a core academic class with ELs, to support their development of academic language and understanding of content
- Administer ACCESS for ELLs tests
- Complete any paperwork associated with ELE regulations
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
