Technical Advisor, Affordable Housing Development

The Florida Housing Coalition (Coalition) is Florida’s premier statewide nonprofit providing training & technical assistance and consulting on affordable housing. The Coalition seeks one or more Technical Advisors to support our existing work, including but not limited to, affordable housing development. Primary work will be to provide technical assistance and capacity-building training to nonprofit developers and local governments towards meeting our goal of expanding affordable housing in Florida.

You will collaborate with a wide range of housing experts who have a true passion for helping nonprofits and local governments use best practices for increasing the production and preservation of housing that’s affordable in Florida.

Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will promote the Coalition’s mission through project-specific technical assistance and capacity building related to affordable housing development from concept to construction.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide expert knowledge to nonprofit developers and local governments in planning, financing, construction, and preservation of affordable housing.

Qualifications:

  • A self-starter who enjoys working collaboratively and is well versed in affordable housing planning, real estate development, and finance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent presentation and training skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Responsive to the needs of nonprofits/community-based organizations based upon experience with and understanding of the development process.
  • Master’s degree in Real Estate Development, Business Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, Public Administration, Finance, or Economics.
  • Professional experience in affordable housing development, either for a nonprofit or for- profit developer.
  • Knowledge of federal and Florida-specific affordable housing programs, policies, funding sources, systems, and incentive strategies.
  • Understanding of how regulations, planning documents, and local government processes affect housing development, including land development regulations, affordable housing policy documents, building codes, and permitting processes.

Pay & Benefits:
This is a full-time competitive salaried position with excellent benefits. The position can be remote anywhere within the state of Florida. The Florida Housing Coalition is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
