L.L.Bean is seeking a talented apprentice with an Electrical focus to join our team as a temporary Electrician Helper. If you’re a team player and like to work in a fast-paced, high tech, friendly environment in our Order Fulfillment Center, located in Freeport, Maine this is the position for you! This is an exceptional full-time temporary opportunity for any student that has graduated/ going to graduate High School in 2023 or enrolled in a Trade School/Community College. This person will work hands on with our qualified Master Electricians. This is a paid apprentice position paying $19.00 an hour.
Position Purpose: In this important role this person will provide assistance in performing a variety of electrical trade functions under the direct supervision of senior electricians. This Apprenticeship training consists of basic practical on the job training at an actual workplace.
Responsibilities

Recognizes and avoids electrical hazards while safely performing basic electrical tasks.

Installs, maintains and troubleshoots lighting systems under the direction of senior level electricians. Follows procedures and properly handles Universal Waste per state guidelines.

Identifies electrical hazard conditions or actions that may cause injury or property damage and ensures action to abate them.

Assures appropriate communication of issues and problems to coworkers and leadership. Collaborates with team as needed to achieve objectives. Shares knowledge in support of others to build technical and diagnostic strength in the team.

Assist in the maintenance and repair of a variety of power distribution systems and production equipment.

Assist in completing preventative maintenance on equipment as required.

Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Health and Safety Requirement: Ensure compliance with the L.L. Bean Comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, polices, procedures and expectations. Take immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
Education:
Any student that has graduated/ going to graduate High School in 2023 or enrolled in a Trade School/Community College.
Skills and Qualifications:

Basic commercial or industrial electrical experience preferred but not required

Good analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Able to manage work to completion
-
Exposure to the NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace) Helpful but not required.

Able to troubleshoot basic electrical controls preferred
-
Ability to work with various 24-hour emergency support groups

Self-motivated, able to complete assignments independently while receiving guidance from senior level electricians

Valid state driver's license required

Ability to operate and work in boom trucks, scissor lifts, personnel lifts, and other aerial lifts at heights in excess of 30 feet

Personal computer skills

Good communication skills both verbal and written
Notes/Physical Demands: Majority of work requires exposure to typical operational environments, including warehouse or production facilities and commercial facilities such as office areas and retail space. Position required to inspect on and above ground components. Exposure includes but is not limited to open and enclosed spaces, variable external weather conditions, exhaust fumes, exposure to slip, trip, fall and falling object hazards, scaffolding, lifts, heights, etc. Must be able to distinguish colors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and smell. And occasionally will lift and /or move up to 50 pounds to a maximum height of 60". Frequently, the employee will be required to lift up to 20 pounds during the course of a shift.
