KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees key diagnostic and quality tests on products, components and/or materials to support product reliability, quality and performance.
- Assists in the development of new test procedures and processes in collaboration with other engineering teams on the development of test standards.
- Oversees and participates in testing from concept through product launch.
- Drives testing consistency in both procedures and physical equipment resulting in high quality data.
- Analyzes test data to identify key failures, trends, and/or critical performance factors of design prototypes. Provides detailed documentation in the form of test reports in a timely manner. Communicates test status updates for all responsible projects to stakeholders.
- Functions as a liaison between the test technicians, test engineering, and engineering design staff concerning issues, product design, troubleshooting, functional requirements, quality and efficiency
- Oversees compliance with established industry safety and design standards and guidelines.
- Provides input into the operating, capital and expense budgets. Provides input on resource planning and policy development
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides input into the operating, capital and expense budgets.
- Actively participates in the development and revision of company policies and procedures to accommodate changing business needs.
- In partnership with human resources, supervises the daily activities for a team, provides training, ensures productivity, sets priorities and manages work schedules. Provides input on resource planning and policy development. Coaches team members on performance, completes performance evaluations and recommends pay actions. Participates in and provides input into hiring and termination decisions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or equivalent.
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years in test engineering experience in a manufacturing environment which includes supervising or leading technician level employees, computer based testing and programming.
