Work Schedule
The normal work schedules for staff are typically Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Hours may be adjusted to accommodate SHS’ hours of operation. Sunday (12:00pm-6:00pm) rotation may be required. Hours may include early mornings and/or evening and altered schedules based on the nature of the position and workload. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department. Position is considered essential personnel.

In this role you will:

  • Provide a broad range of counseling and psychological services to students, including initial evaluation/assessment, treatment planning, case formulation, referral to appropriate services, and treatment within individual, couples, and group psychotherapy modalities.

  • Provide crisis intervention and management as necessary.

  • Assess client needs and diagnosis, devise and facilitate implementation of treatment planning goals, and evaluates treatment needs.

  • Conduct clinical work and documentation compliant with departmental, division, and USC policies and procedures.

  • Participate as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based practice with a primary focus on initial diagnostic evaluation, assessment, and referral to the appropriate level of care.

Maintain state license as a mental health professional and Student Health Services (SHS) credentialing & privileging requirements at all times.

Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree and 2 or more years of related experience may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Licensed or eligible to obtain a license as a mental health professional in the state of South Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications
Fully licensed to provide counseling. The preferred candidate will have strong diagnostic and intervention skills. Previous experience with late adolescent and emerging adult populations in a mental health setting. Previous experience in a college/university counseling center or with college-aged students. Experience with providing crisis intervention and stabilization services in a mental health setting. Previous experience working within a diverse, multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to quickly and effectively synthesize information into a coherent analysis. Strong decision-making and persuasion skills. Strong clinical skills. Familiarity with evidence based mental health treatment in an outpatient setting.
