CAU Therapist-LMSW

This is a part time Therapist position in the Civilian Assistance Unit (CAU). The position requires a trauma informed/trained practitioner to trauma focused/specialized clinical services, including individual, family and group psychotherapy, to primary and secondary victims of police misconduct.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Assists civilians in recovering from the physical, emotional, and financial impact of trauma
• Provides crisis intervention, safety planning, information/referrals to victims/witnesses of police misconduct as needed
• Provide in-person/virtual trauma informed individual, group and family therapy to primary and secondary innocent victims of police misconduct
• Develop and write treatment plans, clinical notes and various other documentation
• Provides support and assistance to civilians navigating CCRB process
• Responds to inquiries and requests; explains the Victim Bill of Rights and judicial processes
• Maintain a caseload of 15-20 civilians and commitment to work 20 hours per week
• Identify and respond to high-risk participant encounters with elevated safety concerns, following company protocols
• Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality as described in HIPAA Privacy & Security policies

Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW). New York State License as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), a minimum of two years of experience working with survivors of trauma, such as crime or abuse. Professional Liability Insurance is needed before hire.

Preferred Qual and Skills: Must be licensed and/or working towards licensure for LCSW; self-starter with strong clinical skills with both individuals and groups. Foreign language proficiency a plus.

Essential Skills

• Proficient in MS Suite.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
• A collegial, flexible and adaptable approach to work is required.

*This position is a grant-funded one-year contract with the possibility of extension.
