The Electrochemistry & Corrosion team is seeking outstanding Post Bachelor students to join a multi-disciplinary team with on-going research efforts in fundamental and applied materials science and engineering.
Active areas of research for this position include: materials characterization, sample preparation, and thin film deposition.
The Electrochemistry & Corrosion Team engages in many aspects of materials characterization, ranging from microstructural characterization to material performance in macro-scale corrosive environments. Post Bachelor students will have the opportunity to learn scientific communication skills (i.e. publication writing), hands-on laboratory experience, and forge valuable professional relationships within LANL and across the national laboratory network.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
§ Demonstrated experience performing laboratory work in a research-oriented environment.
§ A demonstrated record of technical excellence and innovative thinking as evidenced by publication and presentation records and letters of reference.
§ Good communication skills (both oral and written).
§ Ability to work effectively as a part of a team or independently in a multi-disciplinary environment.
§ Ability to plan and organize assignments and meet project deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
§ Familiarity with material micro-scale characterization.
§ Familiarity with nanofabrication methods.
§ Familiarity with atomic layer deposition and/or physical/chemical vapor deposition.
§ Familiarity with data analysis techniques.
§ Familiarity with integrated laboratory instruments and software, such as using LabView software.
§ Familiarity of temperature controllers, vacuum systems, electrical/pneumatic actuation, or PLCs.
§ Familiarity with gas handling systems.
Education/Experience: Completion of BS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or other closely related discipline completed within the last 3 years. Cumulative GPA of at least a 3.2 is required.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2.
