Tooling Technician

Job Summary

Responsible for repair and maintenance of molds/tooling for production equipment

Job Responsibilities:

· Follow written or verbal instructions to repair tool carriers.

· Exchanges tool cavities from carriers for tooling change-overs per procedures.

· Makes minor repairs or modifications to molds, sockets, frames, and head cleaning, as required by production.

· Communicate with operators, group leaders, scheduler, BCL’s and alternate shift mold repair technicians

· Performs tool changeovers on the line and

· Work with cast operators to provide accurate mold counts production

· Monitor repeat cavities and make necessary repairs and/or

· Works with tool engineer to have tools repaired at local tool shop.

· Perform mold cleaning as necessary.

· Maintain tooling log and documents tool locations both in the plant and at the warehouse.

· Responsible for 5-S of the tooling areas in the plant.

· Perform necessary functions to adhere to ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.

· Assist engineers for specific project assignments

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Perform general machining to fabricate brackets and carrier sub-assemblies.

· Perform general welding and/or fabrication skills for fixturing, prototypes, or as otherwise necessary.

· Assist maintenance as assigned/requested

Work and Educational qualifications:

HS Diploma or GED required

1+ years of post-secondary or vocational training and/or 1+ years of previous machining or welding experience a plus

Knowledge of machining, fixturing and/or welding is preferred.

Prior experience operating drills, lathes and other power tools preferred

Some overtime will be required

Work Environment:

Employee will work under regular supervision and is expected to raise questions and concerns as needed

Due to the nature of the work, production workers must be able to stand for long hours at a time, perform repetitive tasks with minimal supervision and withstand hot temperatures.

A flexible work schedule with the ability to work shifts, overtime and weekend is also required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50 - $23.25 per hour
