The Department of Transportation is seeking to fill a full-time Traffic Control Specialist to ensure that signing and pavement markings are maintained in good condition and in compliance with current regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Traffic Control Specialist you will perform the duties necessary for the correct installation and maintenance of signing and pavement marking on State Routes throughout the District. You will work primarily independent with minimal supervision on various new construction projects for signing and pavement markings. This work involves creating cost estimates, creating fabrication sheets, creating signing plans, attending pre-construction meetings; review completed signing plans, review field locations, perform steel calculations and compile sign quantities. You will independently work with representatives of various municipalities, PennDOT officials, consultants, and contractors to remedy sign issues on various projects. You will be the team leader for the PennDOT SAP Plant Maintenance Program. You will develop a schedule of class times and topics to train all District and County personal that use SAP Plant Maintenance.

• Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

• One year as a Traffic Control Specialist Trainee; OR
  
• Two years as a Traffic Control Technician; OR
  
• One year of experience in traffic control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, civil engineering, or a closely related field; OR
  
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
