Position Summary:

The College of Health is seeking applications for 2 Training Coordinators. These position will be in the Alaska Center for Rural Health at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Duties:

100The Training Coordinator is responsible for administering a variety of training programs including but not limited to: -Resiliency Lab -Mental Health First Aid -Health continuing education -Behavioral Health continuing education Training program administration includes but is not limited to: -Provide state-of-the-art training and staff development for Alaska’s healthcare workforce, students, and emergency service personnel including supervisors and managers, and partner agencies (DHSS, tribal, grantees) throughout the State of Alaska. -Develop training modules (online, classroom, webinars, and distance-delivered workshops) for statewide and national use for healthcare professionals, students, and emergency services personnel. -Coordinate logistics to ensure that training is delivered economically and efficiently. -Coordinate training efforts with other trainers, under the direction of the program manager, to maximize consistency, quality, and effectiveness. -Review and provide training materials and relevant literature. -Ongoing review of curriculum materials to ensure updated training programs. -Work with evaluator to review and implement training evaluation. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, positive, solution-focused attitude and work ethic

  • Ability to relate to a diverse workforce and assess their knowledge and ability levels, and develop training plans for the workforce.

  • Consultation skills to work with partners personnel in all areas of healthcare workforce.

  • Ability to utilize technology in the development and delivery of training modules; development and use of presentation technology (i.e., PowerPoint and Blackboard, etc.).

  • Independently able to evaluate training effectiveness and develop appropriate programs for training to those needs.

  • Knowledge of statewide data systems and their impact on worker performance and effectiveness.

  • Ability to network with national trainers, as well as, state and federal administrators, trainers, and educators.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress

  • Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English

  • Critical thinking and sound judgment

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism

  • Proficiency with computers

  • Familiarity with Alaska geography; cities/towns/locations


  • Preferred: Alaska Resident

    Preferred Experience & Education:
    Extensive knowledge of best practices in the areas of continuing education, medicine, healthcare, emergency services, and behavioral health.

    Preferred: Experience in public health

    Required Experience & Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, behavioral health, teaching, or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.



    Salary Information:

    These are full-time, 12-month, term-funded, exempt staff positions complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
