Job Scope

This position will assist in the on-boarding, training, and development of our team of drivers in specific markets


Job Summary

This position will have Responsible for safely delivering fuels to customers via Transport or Bobtail trucks. Responsible for the initial Road test for new Fuel Driver Applicants. Act as new employee trainer for Drivers on both Transports and Bobtails trucks. Perform continuous education for our team of experienced drivers. Act as a guide or aid for any issue or problem your team of drivers may be experiencing and escalate the situation up to resolution. Be prepared for and attend monthly lead driver meeting that will be held via teams. Respond to all emails within reasonable timeframe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transport fuels by transport or bobtail trucks
  • Fully understand and have the ability to train our team on SMARTruck and handheld
  • Fully understand and have the ability to train our team on SMARTank and DTN
  • Fully understand and have the ability to train our team on all technology including telematics, cameras, cell phones, email, Microsoft Teams etc.
  • Maintain company cell phone set up voicemail on cell phone day 1 of employment and check voicemails often. Cell phone must remain on after hours allowing management to contact
  • Guide experienced and new drivers on carding process at local terminals
  • Safely drive truck to and from destination applying knowledge of DOT driving regulations and area roads
  • Check loads to ensure product is being hauled in an appropriate and safe manner
  • Verify load in handheld to ensure we you have accurate address, product, gallon count prior to leaving the plant.
  • Strive to meet customer expectations without exception and achieve highly positive customer satisfaction survey results consistent with strategic objectives
  • Develop extensive working relationships with customers, both external and internal, in order to maximize opportunities and to ensure customer needs are addressed
  • Cleanliness of your truck and equipment is paramount. Utilize local truck washer or have truck cleaned inside and out often. Randlomly inspect your teams trucks for cleanliness
  • Check and maintain your trucks binder is complete, orderly, and stowed on drivers door when applicable
  • Maintain cell phone and SMARTruck handheld contact with supervisor/dispatch to receive and transmit delivery instructions
  • Complete pre- and post-trip inspections on truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights brakes, gas, fuel, oil, and water
  • May perform minor roadside repairs, such as installing light bulbs
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the traffic routes of the area
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Assist other company employees as needed
  • Responsible for following (4) week training process for new hire drivers on both transport and Bobtails
  • Responsible for training based on our Performance Evaluation Form and turning in a graded form once a week and keeping immediate supervisor up to date on their training progress.
  • Responsible for Retraining experienced drivers when needed.


Physical and Environmental Conditions

The position is located in an office and outdoors environment frequent encounters dirt and dust, noise and vibration, fumes and odors and wetness/humidity. May be frequently exposed to mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards. This position also requires travel via vehicle and airplane. The employee is required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, knee, crouch, talk and hear. The incumbent frequently lifts up to 25 lbs.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Work days are potentially 7 days a week. Evening and night work may be required. Must have flexibility on weekends.


Minimum Education, Experience and Certification

  • Two+years of experience as a Class A CDL driver
  • One or more years of experience handling petroleum products and/or hazardous materials
  • Class A CDL required
  • X Endorsement required
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) training required
  • Site specific training will be provided


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must possess effective written and oral communication skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving techniques and skills
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
