Purpose:
Coordinate Domestic Freight Shipments

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Plan, assign, and monitor all rail, truck, and export shipments for site. Optimize carrier selection and utilization consistent with mill production, customer requirements and company goals.
Coordinate Domestic Freight Shipments
- Assist in annual transportation procurement “bid” process as required
- Plan, schedule, and tender all shipments to ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Optimize carrier selection, equipment utilization, and freight savings goals as established in the annual transportation procurement bid.
- Coordinate customer loading.
- Plan, prepare and publish shipping schedules.
- Coordinate planning and shipping activities with customer service, scheduling and production departments.
- Divert and trace shipments as required.
- Communicate with customer service and shipping warehouse on order shortages and/or cubing issues.
Monitor Production
- Review the daily shipments, checking for inventory availability.
Coordinate Warehouse Loads
- Communicate with shipping department to ensure customer and carrier commitments are being fulfilled.
- Assist shipping with production/operational/equipment issues.
- Communicate with carriers regarding service and expectations.
- Provide relief for other Coordinators as needed
Communications & Customer Service
- Communicate with shipping department supervisors to ensure customer and carrier commitments are being fulfilled.
- Assist shipping with production/operational/equipment issues on weekends and evenings.
- Communicate with carriers on after hours and expedited deliveries.
- Arrange pulp returns from outside storage facilities, when required.
- Provide relief for other Coordinators as needed.

- Strong time management skills
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in transportation or operations
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience using enterprise resource planning software. JDE or Elixir experience a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
Office environment; with limited exposure to manufacturing production mill environment- Some eye fatigue due to computer use and sitting for extended periods of time
