Job Summary and Qualifications
Our Trauma Registry Coordinator will work under the supervision of the department director/leadership team and will be responsible for abstraction of data for core measure, trauma, and/or various cardiovascular services.
- You will complete abstraction process for LGMC, including abstraction of cases into the required system (i.e. COMET, TheraDoc, Digital Innovations, NHSN, et.)
- You will be responsible for reviewing medical records to abstract information according to the standards of various regulatory and accreditation agenda (i.e. CMS, TJC, NHSHN, etc.)You will perform timely abstraction to ensure compliance with standards.
- You will complete edit checks and make appropriate changes in a timely manner.
- You will follow standards and CSG/Parallon instructions to abstract all reportable cases.
- You will assist with case follow-up as needed/requested.
- You will be required to attend educational activities as approved by leadership, participate in continuing education programs and annual refresher trainings.
- You will maintain clinical knowledge of various abstracted measures.
- You will communicate in a timely manner with manager to achieve measure compliance
- You will be required to submit data timely through the appropriate reporting system.
- You will resolve errors resulting in the rejection of records from the data entry system.
Qualifications:
- 1 (one) year or more of prior Health Information Management, Coding, or Health Registry abstraction experience is preferred.
- Undergraduate degree or successful completion in a certified coding program is preferred.
- Proficient in computer skills, excellent written and verbal communications, Detail and accuracy oriented, ability to work independently, strong organization skills, ability to communicate with all stakeholders.
- Basic medical terminology knowledge and proficient knowledge of medical record documentation and patient discharge disposition process.
