Truck Driver Class A CDL
Job description
Essential Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Short-distance & Long-distance driving
2. Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers
3. Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
4. Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
5. Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
6. Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
7. Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules
8. Complying with truck driving rules and regulations
9. Reporting defects, accidents, and violations
10. Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)
11. Interacting with customers in a professional manner
12. Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
13. Recording cargo deliveries
14. Verifying loads for accuracy
15. Ensure that all activities are performed in a safe manner with proper PPE.
Education:
1. Preferably - High School diploma or GED.
Special Knowledge and Skills:
1. Completion of training requirements as established by Company (i.e. Hands-On and Classroom if applicable).
2. Ability to handle all appropriate job related tools and equipment.
3. Class A CDL Required
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 80 pounds; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and pull up to 80 pounds.
2. Ability to frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, finger and twist upper body; continuously handle, feel and use eye-hand coordination and eye-hand/foot coordination; occasionally use foot control; and sit, crouch and crawl
3. Ability to demonstrate near and far acuity; depth perception and color definition.
4. Ability to use senses of taste, smell, hearing and touch.
5. Ability to wear respiratory protection.
6. Ability to drive 8+ hours per day.
Mental and Interpersonal Requirements:
1. Good ability to: think and reason, solve problems, apply speed and accuracy, and reason mechanically, reading comprehension; low ability to use correct grammar, solve math problems, read with speed, and use three-dimensional skills; low computer skills required.
2. Good oral communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to interact well not only with fellow crew members but the rig crews as well; low managerial organizational, and written communication skills.
3. Ability to read and interpret safety material, handouts, manuals, etc.
4. Able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
