Job Objectives:

Responsible for underwriting a portion of the AWAC Chicago property book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, expense goals, premium growth while simultaneously executing proper underwriting discipline/guidelines, marketing and servicing of existing and potential clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• General underwriting functions including submission review, pricing analysis, setting of terms and conditions, and quote/binder/invoice authorizations
• Monitor exposure of specific accounts with review of claims, inspections and risk management reports
• Marketing – Establish and maintain relationships with key partners by attending client/broker meetings and other social outings as applicable. Our underwriters regularly meet with our agents/ brokers to discuss production, service and other topics relative to mutual insureds and clients
• Engage with other Allied World product lines to develop possible cross sell opportunities
• Liaise with Claims Department on any specific claims activity on individual accounts, which could potentially affect profitability
• Compliance with underwriting guidelines, systems and procedures
• Follow treaty and facultative reinsurance protocols as required
• Stay current with respect to major industry issues and developments

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree a plus
• 0-3 years of industry experience, property preferred
• Strong Writing and Communication Skills
• Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi task
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to think originally, be willing to challenge ideas and be receptive to having their own ideas challenged
• Willingness to travel
