Position Summary
- There are multiple positions available.
- The hiring manager will also consider candidates for Underwriting Support Specialist II (F05) and Senior Underwriting Support Specialist (F07). Level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
- This position will have a hybrid schedule with days working both in the office and from home each week.
Under close supervision, provides documentation, processing and clerical support to assist with underwriting functions. Provides service by interacting with Agents, Policyholders and Employees to respond to inquiries regarding underwriting and acts as a resource for questions related to internal processes and systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in basic clerical functions, including answering phones, updating systems as required, retrieving imaged documents, coordinating the generation and mailing of written correspondence, setting up policies to review prior to renewal, monitoring diaries and processing reports.
Performs limited review of appraisals, underwriting reports, claims, specified endorsements, renewals and quotes to identify missing information, according to established criteria. Documents information using online systems as required.
Contacts Agents for missing or incomplete information on applications, renewals, questionnaires and endorsement requests, under guidance of underwriter. Orders and monitors receipt of various underwriting reports.
Assists underwriters in documenting underwriting files and entering data into the appropriate system. Generates documents from ERIE systems as needed.
Performs less complex policy data changes and verifies coverages as required.
Identifies necessary forms, attachments and enclosures accordingly. Types information from various source documents for various lines of business.
Attends appropriate training sessions.

Competencies
Qualifications
High school diploma, or GED, required. Familiarity with ERIE’s products, systems and processes preferred. Willingness to enroll in General Insurance Program or LOMA preferred. Working knowledge of on-line systems such as BUNDL or Dell, letter generating software, on-line manuals and e-mail preferred.
All Employees with a telecommuting arrangement in which they consistently work remotely during part, or all, of their work schedule must have in their regular remote work location, access to business class internet service providing 3 megabytes (3 MBs) or more of bandwidth. For this purpose, business class internet means internet service with a static IP address, dedicated connections and guarantees or service level agreements (SLAs) addressing relevant performance characteristics. The internet service bandwidth requirement is subject to revision from time to time based on the requirements of ERIE’s systems.
