Healogics is seeking a Registered Vascular Tech to provide diagnostic medical sonography services and serve as a medical imaging professional, providing clinically relevant information in assisting physicians with the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Schedule: PRN / 10 Hours a Week
Location: Scotland Memorial Wound Care Center

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infections disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures
- Assumes responsibility for the safety of the patient during the sonographic examination
- Reviews patient medical history and supporting clinical information
- Ensures that the sonography examination order is complete, contains relevant information, and meets the standard of “medical necessity”
- Evaluates any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination and associated procedures
- Communicates with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient’s ability to understand
- Uses proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition and musculoskeletal injury to the sonographer
- Conducts patient clinical assessment and perform the diagnostic medical sonography examination ordered by the supervising physician in accordance with professional and facility protocols
- Applies independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures
- Utilizes independent judgment during the sonography examination to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images
- Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refers specific diagnostic, treatment or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional
- As necessary, acquires additional ultrasound imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician
- Identifies and documents any limitations to the sonography examination
- Reviews examination images, synthesize examination results, and prepare the preliminary findings
- Performs other duties as required
Required Education, Experience and Credentials:
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) – required
- At least 1 year of experience in vascular ultrasound performing venous reflux exams, extensive knowledge of DVT and venous insufficiency exam preferred
- Six (6) months experience as a registered vascular sonographer
- One (1) years’ experience as a vascular sonographer preferred
- At least one year of vascular ultrasound experience assisting in a sterile environment
- Must be willing to travel
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to scan independently with knowledge and expertise demonstrating appropriate selection of equipment relative to anatomical areas of interest
- Able to alter examination relative to patient status to provide optimal outcome
- Ability to help with interventional procedures or willingness to learn
- Maintains ethical standards to include maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (HIPAA), facility policies and procedures
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills and software programs used for documentation activities and report generation
- Must be proficient in performing daily exams
