Established veterinary hospital (www.dixieanimalhospital.com) in southern Miami-Dade county is seeking a veterinary technician/nurse to fill a part-time or full-time position. We are located in the affluent area of Palmetto Bay and have been serving the Miami community for over 50 years!

Your responsibilities will include assisting the veterinarians in the exam rooms, during surgeries and other medical procedures. Additional duties will include monitoring animals under anesthesia, surgical preparation, patient recovery and nursing care, taking X-rays, reading microscope slides, client education, running the blood machines, running the autoclave, performing teeth cleanings, obtaining and recording patient histories, IV catheter placement, venipuncture, giving injections, pharmacy duties, restraining animals and completing other various laboratory procedures. We are willing to train you for the more advanced/technical duties.

You will be partially responsible for the care of the hospitalized and boarding animals: walking, bathing, feeding, and nursing care for the animals as well as general cleaning and upkeep of our very clean and organized hospital.

You must be able to lift at least 40 pounds, work well with your fellow employees, have good record keeping skills, be able to calculate doses for medicines, and also have great patient care skills.

Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, ability to multi-task and sound motivation are a must for this position.

Experience in the veterinary/kennel or medical field is strongly preferred and ability to work Saturdays is a must.

Dixie Animal Hospital is a state-of-the-art spacious facility equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiology, a modern and well equipped surgical suite, a dedicated Midmark equipped dentistry area with digital dental x-rays, boarding facilities, an extensive pharmacy and a vast amount of prescription diet options. We collaborate with many board certified veterinary specialists in the surrounding area and frequently have specialists that travel to our hospital to perform abdominal ultrasounds, complicated surgeries, echocardiograms and advanced dentistry procedures.

Our practice is located minutes away from the beaches and the Greater Miami vibrant communities of Pinecrest, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and downtown Miami. We are less than one hour away from beautiful Key Largo and the surrounding keys.

Compensation: We offer a competitive salary based on experience. We also provide end of the year bonuses based on your overall contribution to the business and your work ethic.
