Visiting Instructor - Architectural Engineering Technology
Job description
The School of Construction and Design at the University of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for a full-time "Visiting Instructor" appointment in the Architectural Engineering Technology program. Successful applicants may teach up to 12 semester credit hours (up to four courses per semester) of undergraduate courses in Architectural Engineering Technology at our Hattiesburg, MS campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teach assigned undergraduate courses in Architectural Engineering Technology, including:
Preparing course syllabus, lectures, assignments, and other course components as necessary.- Using Canvas to manage the course.
- Utilizing effective teaching methods to ensure that all course outcomes are met.
- Timely evaluation of student work and assignment of grades.
- Being available to students for Q&A.
- Submission of course assessments to the Program Coordinator for accreditation purposes
5 year professional degree in architecture with a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience. Ability to provide high-quality in-person instruction in areas such as: Architectural Design studios, Pre-Design, or Architectural Construction Documents. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Commitment to collegiality and evidence of effective communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge in design and documentation software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suite as well as rendering software.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous college level teaching experience. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
