Position Summary
In partnership with The Nonprofit Center, The Dow Inc Corporate Volunteer Program Manager works directly with Dow’s Northeast Public Affairs team located at the Northeast Dow Center in Collegeville PA. This individual will be part of The Nonprofit Center team and connect with the Center staff routinely but ultimately be imbedded with the Dow team to connect with regional Dow staff, local community partners and the larger Dow Citizenship team.

The individual in this role will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Dow’s volunteer program at the company’s Northeast Dow Center, Bristol Croydon Operations and Wilmington Site, and support the coordination of global purpose-driven employee engagement programs. The Corporate Volunteer Program Manager will collaborate closely with multiple Dow functions, business, employee resource groups and community partners to continuously elevate the Company’s volunteer efforts in the region and leverage best practices to enhance tactics and relationships needed for a quality, respected (leader within Dow and in the community), energized and impactful (individual, social & business) volunteer program.

This role reports directly to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships at The Nonprofit Center as well as the Global Citizenship Program Officer for Volunteerism at Dow and will be an integral members of Dow’s Northeast Public Affairs and Global Citizenship teams.

Essential Duties
Volunteer Recruitment, Resource, Training and Recognition
  • Promote Dow’s Volunteer and ERG Participation Policy and volunteer programming across Dow’s diverse and inclusive workforce to inspire and recruit volunteers
  • Project management of new and existing purpose-driven volunteer initiatives such as the All IN ERG Fund, #PullingOurWeight and MLK Day.
  • Partner with Dow’s businesses, functions and employee resource groups, recruit Dow employee volunteers (and leverage opportunities that may also be open to retirees, family, friends, customers and local community members).
  • Manage regional utilization and awareness of Dow’s Volunteer Portal (CyberGrants).
  • Identify, train and supervise high potential volunteers to be project leaders of individual volunteer projects. Strengthen the quality of volunteer engagement by empowering and building capacity amongst project leadership base of volunteers.
  • Coordinate with Dow’s Public Affairs team, The Nonprofit Center staff and other partners on the implementation of continuing education opportunities to increase knowledge of community needs, volunteer capacity, community impact and Dow’s reputation.
  • Be a resource and subject-matter expert to employee resource groups, site leadership and business teams to encourage volunteerism and engagement to help meet respective goals
  • Implement a volunteer recognition program and connect volunteer work to impact on local community needs through internal and external communication channels.


Program Administration and Evaluation
  • Connect with Dow businesses, functions, employee resource groups, and employees to better understand barriers to volunteerism as well as interest areas of team members.
  • Deliver orientation and training offerings to employee volunteers and employee resource groups on how to address community needs and maximize the volunteer experience for the employee, the nonprofit and Dow.
  • Track volunteer engagement across the region, act as subject-matter expert for Dow’s Volunteer Portal (Cybergrants) and train new volunteer leaders on portal utilization.
  • Share data, impact stories and other information to assist with storytelling and reporting.

Community Engagement
  • Leverage, liaise and coordinate with strategic local (and when necessary global) Dow partners to address community needs and promote and further Dow’s Global Citizenship strategy through volunteerism.
  • Act as direct link between community groups and nonprofit partners to Dow to create and facilitate community volunteer opportunities.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Represent Dow and The Nonprofit Center at programs in the community.
  • Promote and support public relations efforts for both organizations, as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, Dow functions, businesses and employee resource groups, and community stakeholders along with the skills to develop and manage multiple volunteer projects and partners simultaneously – prioritizing a diverse range of projects and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively inspire and engage a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong and persuasive communicator that can make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
  • Proficiency with current Microsoft Office and Windows, database programs, other PC applications, including Excel. Basic understanding of statistics/data analysis
  • Ability to make effective, quick decisions, working independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Self-starter, motivated to achieve program goals
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency Program Documentation

Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking.
  • 3+ years of experience in volunteer management, community relations, corporate social responsibility and/or nonprofit management.
  • Understanding of the Greater Philadelphia nonprofit landscape.
  • Affinity for addressing community needs, enhancing the capacity of the nonprofit sector and recognizing the value the private sector and its employees can provide.
  • Proficiency with volunteer management technology systems (i.e., Cybergrants, Benevity) and basic understanding of statistics/data analysis.
  • Proven motivated self-starter who can achieve program goals as well as present new ideas to enhance program offerings.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
  • The position will be co-located at the Northeast Dow Center in Collegeville, Pa., and the NPC.
  • Ability to travel throughout the region to Dow sites (Montgomery County, Bucks County and Wilmington DE), community partners and volunteer projects.
  • Require a reliable car and valid driver’s license.
  • May work non-traditional hours due to timing of volunteer opportunities some occurring on weekends or evenings.
  • Moving equipment and/or supplies up to 20 pounds for various program needs.
