Performs general grounds keeping and landscaping duties and maintains facilities, also assists in the repair and operation of a variety of water production and wastewater treatment plant equipment to maintain safe and clean environments.

Full-Time; Contract; Non-Exempt

This posting will be used to fill a full-time, contract, FLSA non-exempt position, but may be used to fill other part-time, temporary, regular, union represented or other similar positions that become available.

This position is graded at CN04.

• Performs general upkeep and cleaning of facilities, locations and sites; collects and removes trash and debris to ensure neat and clean assigned areas.
• Uses various tools and small equipment to maintain facilities, remove weeds, mow grass and landscape and maintain grounds.
• Performs general maintainence of facilities to include sand blasting, painting, and pouring concrete slabs.
• Operates and maintains sprinkler systems to ensure uniform distribution of water and maintain the condition of the grounds.

No minimum educational requirement. Six (6) months experience performing general grounds and/or building maintenance. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.

Basic knowledge of: principles, practices, techniques, and procedures involved in effective landscaping, grounds, and facility maintenance; safe and effective use of related chemicals, supplies, materials, tools and equipment; principles, techniques and practices of effective and respectful customer service; occupational and environmental safety and health hazards, and safety practices; principles of record keeping and records management; business and personal computers standard business software applications; City organization, operations, policies and procedures to effectively perform the required functions and duties of the position.
