Job Summary/Qualifications: The City of Caldwell has an opening for a Water Technician I or II in the Caldwell Water Department. Individual serves as worker to repair water meters and record and report water usage; performs maintenance on water meters and lines. Maintains pump and wells. Maintains chlorine levels and monitors residuals. Performs related work as required. Must possess good interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with other City employees and the general public. Subject to a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Acceptable Experience and Training:
Water Technician I: Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; or Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Water Technician II: Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; or Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. And 3 years’ experience as a Water Technician I.
Required Special Qualifications:
Water Technician I: Possession of a current and valid driver’s license; must obtain a Class I Water Distribution Certification within 24 months of employment; after hour’s on-call and residency within a 20-minute service response area.
Water Technician II: Possession of a current and valid driver’s license; and Possession or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL and proper endorsements issued by the State of Idaho within 6 months of employment. Class II Water Distribution Certification issued by the State of Idaho; after hour’s on-call and residency within a 20-minute service response area.
Salary Range: Water Technician I: $17.86-$20.08 Water Technician II: $19.12-$21.48
