The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts Information Technology department is looking a motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Web Application Developer. This part time position will be responsible for maintaining and providing functional updates to our current Herberger Institute web applications as well as working with end users to create new apps as needed. Current websites are in PHP and .NET frameworks, running on both Windows and Linux servers and are routinely scanned for security vulnerabilities. This position will require regularly checking our vulnerability database and patching any items arising from scans and penetration testing, ensuring that not only is the code secure, but we are also running secure versions of PHP, Apache, .NET, etc. In addition to security updates, this position will routinely intake feature requests from end users and implement those features after proper testing and debugging.

Essential Duties
- Develops web forms, templates, database-driven web pages, new web tools and dynamic areas within web pages designed to enhance, sustain and support ideas and vision of the Herberger Institute in compliance with established styles and standards
- Provides security and feature updates to previously existing web applications in .NET and PHP
- Provides technical consultative suggestions and recommendations to users for continued enhancements to web content and informational areas
- Works closely with users to understand requirements
- Utilizes ASU provided tools to scan web applications for potential security vulnerabilities and provide required remediation
- Develops and presents initial design ideas and associated tools, tests functionality to ensure objectives are achieved
- Integrates user developed content
- Identifies and troubleshoots errors and/or problems with web based applications
- Works collaboratively with involved stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution
- Escalates as appropriate
- Participates as either leader or team member in a wide variety of projects to develop and improve routine procedures through use of innovative and technology supported solutions
- Prepares associated documentation and end-user training
- Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations
- Designs web interfaces and develops layout design/content
- Selects illustrative materials for use ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance with all standards
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field AND 3 years web and database experience which includes creating and updating table structures and views as well as CSS development; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

- Experience with .Net Frameworks and C# programming

- Experience with Drupal customizations or customizations of similar content management systems
- Experience with SharePoint
- Experience with Python, Java, or other similar object oriented languages.
- Experience working with applications designed for mobile devices.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience consistently and thoroughly documenting code.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CSS and standards for consistent user experience of website and all pages.
- Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design principles and practices and basic understanding of web marketing practices and principles.
- Experience with project management and code management
- Experience with complex SQL queries and stored procedures
- Experience with security remediation and code revision of legacy projects
Working Environment
- Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
- Regular review of completed tasks.
