Summary: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced veterinarian to join our team on a part-time basis as a Wild and Exotic Animal Veterinarian. This unique opportunity offers the chance to work with a variety of fascinating animals, including animals from the family Mustelidae. Compensation:
This is a 1099 position that is on an hourly basis, with compensation commensurate with experience and expertise. As a consultant / part-time role, there are no additional benefits provided. However, this opportunity allows for supplemental income or professional growth within your field, as well as the opportunity to sit on a board for a research facility, without the need to quit your current position.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Valid and unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in Ohio.
- Demonstrated experience in working with wild and exotic animals.
- Strong knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and behavior of wild and exotic animals.
- Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills for the care and treatment of these unique species.
- Ability to handle and safely restrain wild animals, following proper protocols and ensuring the safety of both the animals and yourself.
- Availability to work on a part-time basis, with a flexible schedule to accommodate periodic visits.
Responsibilities:
- Provide veterinary care and medical treatment to wild and exotic animals, including regular check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care.
- Perform diagnostic tests, interpret results, and provide appropriate treatment plans.
- Conduct surgeries and procedures as required, ensuring the highest standard of care for the animals.
- Collaborate with animal care staff to develop and implement comprehensive animal health programs.
- Monitor and maintain animal welfare, ensuring the highest level of well-being for each individual.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine related to wild and exotic animals.
- Participate in research projects and collaborate with other professionals to advance scientific knowledge and understanding of these unique species.
- Have the opportunity to sit on a board for a research facility, contributing to decision-making and progress in the field.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all treated animals.
