The Wireperson Foreperson will oversee, direct, plan and assist work crews under his/her jurisdiction ensuring that the maintenance, installation, repair, and inspection of medium voltage electrical systems powering authority plants, facilities and services are maintained in an efficient, effective, and safe manner.
- Inspect work crew maintenance/repair activities to ensure that assignments are completed safely and according to established schedules and operating standards.
- Enforce the Authority safety standards to ensure the safety of workers and customers.
- Ensure that all inventory levels, equipment, and facilities under their control are protected in a safe operating condition.
- Assume responsibilities of their supervisor as needed; ensure budgetary goals are met and that all work is performed in a timely and cost-effective manner; and provide technical instruction when necessary.
- Drive a company or personal vehicle to visit work sites and/or transport crews or equipment as needed.
- Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner.
- Work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed.
- Respond to or report to work as directed by supervisory personnel for emergencies, extreme weather conditions, or any other abnormal conditions that impair service or the safety of service, twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week
- Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees.
- Assist with the management of a diverse workforce by ensuring fair and consistent application and strict adherence to all rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies.
- Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.
- A High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution with the ability to comprehend, communicate and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English.
- Three (3) years of experience in electrical repair and maintenance including technical, analytical, and troubleshooting oversight of medium voltage systems experience.
- The ability to pass: background screenings; a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check; and the MBTA's medical requirements, including a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening.
- Have excellent customer service skills and effective organizational and analytical skills. Ability to use Word, Excel, or Database applications.
- The ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A valid Massachusetts Journeyman's Electrical License

- Ability to work all shifts and / or locations assigned, directed, or necessary for this position, including (for some transit / operations roles) up to twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week as necessary to accommodate severe weather conditions, emergencies, or any other circumstances that may potentially impact service or the safety of service
