This intervention will include supporting participants when they are engaged in self-directed activities (e.g., doing online job research, creating a resume, or completing job applications) and providing or supporting participants in attending group activities, such as job search classes. Members will also provide individualized and group support for career search, employment soft skills, and employment-focused technical and digital literacy skills. These supports may include career exploration and providing labor market information about in-demand jobs and local, regional, and national employment trends conducting mock interviews, and helping participants use computers and the internet to search and apply for jobs. Your primary role will provide 60-minute Orientations routinely and follow-up one on one consultations that assists them with the necessary resources and tools making them more job ready.

WorkSource is a statewide partnership of state, local and nonprofit agencies that provides an array of employment and training services to job seekers and employers in Washington. Studies show that people who use WorkSource services tend to find work faster and earn more money than those who don't. “The predominate community issue addressed in the Vancouver WorkSource office pertains to technological literacy and access, particularly relative to occupational transition. This is largely due to rapid changes in the traditional structures of local industry. AmeriCorps members will provide orientations to identify specific needs of customers and providing the additional one on one consultation that assists them with the necessary resources and tools making them more job ready.
