JOB SUMMARY:

The In-Home Safety Services Worker works with families referred from the CPS and Ongoing Unit to maintain safety in homes where children are at risk for removal. Staff work closely with identified families and address a wide range of concerns including: safety, parenting, household management, nutrition, safe and stable housing, service acquisition, education, employment, medical, mental health and substance abuse issues. The In-Home Safety Services Worker also provides services to youth who have been re-unified with their family after being placed in residential treatment, foster care or treatment foster care. The position provides services to families involved with the child welfare system that are at risk for out-of- home placement due to abuse or neglect issues.

SALARY: $17.00 - $18.00 an hour

OFFICE LOCATION & HOURS: Office is located in Sheboygan, WI with some flexibility to work remote. Hybrid model of time spent primarily out in the community in-person with clients and some time spent at the office/remote. Work hours are typically 12:00pm-8:00pm during the week and some weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Evaluate youth and families for treatment needs and refer to appropriate resources.
  • Analyze client situations, capabilities and problems to determine services required to control safety threats.
  • Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisis situations.
  • Act as an on call resource to evaluate and determine necessary responses in de-escalating crisis situations with youth and families.
  • Conduct face-to-face contact with families, per program standards, to ensure safety and cooperation with safety plan.
  • Provide timely client updates to other involved employees/agencies.
  • Safely transport clients as needed.
  • After training is complete, staff are added to on-call duties to monitor after-hours calls.
Requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other related field.
  • Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • One year of experience working with at-risk youth and families is preferred.
