QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related human service field.
  • Five years of social work experience may be substituted for education
  • Child welfare experience with emphasis on foster care adoption

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Position Specific

  • Prepare children for permanency; develop a comprehensive recruitment plan that is customized and defined by the child’s needs. Review and update as needed
  • Recruitment and assessment of potential families to meet the needs of the children
  • Utilize the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Child Focused Recruitment Strategy
  • Review homes available for placement of children
  • Facilitate pre-placement visits with foster/adoptive families
  • Attend placement of the child into a certified family
  • Provide case management services for assigned clients
  • Encourage and support families to support committing to the youth in their home
  • Help foster parents with understanding of guardianship, adoption, and AAP
  • Develop and update child centered recruitment packets
  • Speak at functions to raise community awareness about adoption and children needing permanency. Attend BASA and Valley Exchanges
  • Monitor the placement of the child, including direct contact with the child and certified family; meet with each foster child and foster parent as needed, bi-weekly to monthly
  • Maintain a working relationship with the foster parents, teachers, therapists, CPS case workers, birth families (when applicable), and significant others in order to implement successful plans
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation such as contact notes and case records of clients in accordance with SFF and program requirements
  • Develop, review, and update quarterly reports for each child on caseload within timeline expectations
  • Ensure foster family has the support system they need to make the child successful; assist child and parents with problems concerning relationships and other aspects of social and emotional functioning
  • Provide pertinent information to all authorized representatives of the child
  • Responsible for program statistics, maintain and report monthly case load forecasts and report placement changes by monthly deadline
  • Attend trainings as needed such as the annual WWK Recruiter Summit hosted by Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
  • The WWK Recruiter will also:
    • Participate in evaluation activities as directed by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
    • Adhere to the Marketing and Promotions Style Guide provided by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
  • Travel will be required for conducting home visits, providing support to children and families and other activities
  • Work extended hours (including an occasional weekend) when necessary such as during pre-placement visits, when a new child is placed in the home, and when a child is having difficulty in the foster home and parents need added assistance, or when imposed deadlines need to be met

  • Work collaboratively with all agency programs and staff to provide support as needed
  • Utilize and maintain calendar with all work-related details in order to manage time effectively and share calendar information with coworkers
  • Participate in on-going training to expand and develop professional skills
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the agency, as assigned

Employment At-Will
Employment at the Agency is terminable at-will, which means that employment may be
terminated at any time, without cause or reason, by either the employee or the Agency. In
addition the Agency may also demote, layoff, transfer or reassign employees at any time at its
sole discretion without cause or reason.

Starting Salary Range: $25.00 - $29.00 DOE
