    2023 Elementary Summer Teaching Positions


    DATE OF POSTING: April 14, 2023

    CLOSING DATE: Applications received before April 28, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. will be given preference. Open until all positions are filled.

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

    Program operates for 6 weeks for students beginning Monday, June 19th and runs through Thursday, August 3rd, 2023. Students selected based on local data that indicate additional support needed in reading and or math.

    • Serving students in grades 1st - 5th (in the fall)
    • Up to 9 General Education teaching positions needed (dependent on number of participating students) 4 hours per day (includes arrival/dismissal supervision and planning time)
    • Up to 3 Summer School aide positions needed (dependent on number of participating students); 3 hours per day
    • Program runs for kids from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday
    • Lucy Calkins Summer School materials will be used along with IXL for Mathematics and various intervention materials.
    • Staff may choose to partner and teach 3 weeks, but must have another qualified teacher/aide willing to partner on the other 3 weeks.
    • Must be face-to-face instruction
    • No summer school the week of July 3-7

    **Paid Training may be required - likely to occur either June 9th or the week of June 12th, exact dates and time TBD

    POSITIONS:
    Teacher Position Requirements:
    • Elementary Teaching Certificate preferred or a sub permit with at least a bachelor’s degree.
    • Must use Lucy Calkins Summer School materials
    • Skills in diagnosing reading difficulties
    • Experience with Fountas and Pinnell running records and LLI system preferred
    • Experience with documented success of working with small group/one on one tutoring in reading
    • Training and experience in assisting students as they improve their level of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing skills
    • Willingness to work with peers in a coaching setting to refine teaching and learning
    • Commitment to keeping accurate records and data of each individual student’s interventions and progress
    • Planning, organization and implementation of daily lessons using the workshop model for ELA and Delta Math data to drive math instruction and practice
    • Experience giving Delta Math assessment and F& P running records.
    • Other responsibilities as required or necessary
    School Aide Position Requirements:
    • Experience with Fountas and Pinnell running records and LLI system preferred
    • Experience with Heggerty and DRI preferred
    • Assist certified staff in tasks
    • Intervene with students as requested by certified staff
    • Recess supervision if needed
    • Other responsibilities as required or necessary

    PAY RATE:

    • Teaching Positions: Hourly rate of $35.00 per hour (due to ESSR grant money, we are able to offer above the usual $25 per hour)
    • Aide Positions: Hourly rate of $20.00 per hour
