This opening is for a full-time position teaching middle school language arts. This opening is for a full-time position teaching middle school (6th-8th) language arts for the 2023-2024 school year. You would be supported by a collaborative team of experienced teachers and mentors.

Position Overview
The middle school language arts educator uses data-driven instruction to inspire and engage scholars within a grade-specific ELA classroom. The educator develops innovative, hands-on lessons based on the Archdiocese of Washington math standards to promote a conceptual and procedural understanding of grammar, writing, and english literature. He/she presents information in a variety of ways and challenges students to reason. Dedicated to closing the achievement gap while meeting the needs of each individual scholar, he/she regularly utilizes grouping and differentiation. The educator demonstrates cultural sensitivity and promotes collaboration within the classroom. He/she guides the development of scholars academically, spiritually, and socially. Further, the educator is progressive-minded and collaborates with other faculty to develop cross-curricular learning experiences for scholars.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions*)
- Uses best educational practices to deliver high-quality instruction in the form of lecture, labs, centers, demonstrations, projects, and discussions
- Creates innovative and engaging 4-6 week unit/lesson plans based on ADW standards
- Differentiates and scaffolds lessons based on scholar skill and knowledge levels
- Uses of variety of formative and summative assessments, including performance-based assessments, to guide instruction
- Regularly evaluates and tracks student progress through an online gradebook
- Communicates with parents regarding student progress and behavior through email or by phone
- Maintains a safe classroom through strong, supportive classroom management
- Participates in weekly collaboration meetings with other faculty members
- Attends continuing education classes/professional development opportunities to maintain and improve knowledge and skills
- Supports, implements, and enhances the Catholic identity of the school
- Fosters the continued faith development and formation of scholars

Pay: $43,577.00 - $75,000.00 per year
