Abstractor/Assembler
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists Valley Medical Group Practices with migrating to an Electronic Medical Record system by abstracting historical patient date from older electronic systems or paper records. Correctly abstracts data required for state and federal regulations pertaining to patient's historical medical record data such as current diagnosis, patient's pharmacy, lab, care team, past medical, surgical, family, social history and GYN history. Also correctly labels and files all faxed documentation into the patient's chart and determines high priority documentation as needing physician or clinical staff review.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE:
Computer and office experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, coding and state and federal regulations
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Completion of a clerical test required. Ability to communicate and articulate effectively (oral and in writing). Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and cooperatively within a team environment. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make effective decisions, and respond quickly to customer's needs. Ability to recognize and deal with problematic situations and to prioritize.
