Job description
The Account Servicing Representative assists with handling transactions including but not limited to; decedent accounts, IRA/SEP, dormant accounts, levies & garnishments, escheatment process and other compliance related activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists with decedent account processing to ensure all legal and Credit Union requirements are met.
- Assists with IRA processing and ensures all IRS rules and regulations are adhered to regarding IRA and SEP account contributions and distributions.
- Assists with resolving errors and making corrections on accounts as necessary.
- Assists with processing member transactions efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner including servicing existing accounts, closing accounts, and completing all related documentation.
- Assists with monitoring and reactivating dormant accounts according to Credit Union policy.
- Assists with monitoring and processing all member accounts in accordance with escheatment laws. Assists in performing yearly escheatment report to the state.
- Assists with processing levies, court garnishments, and restraining orders.
- Processes IRS notification for back-up withholding.
- Assists with processing the yearly compliance mailings and compliance audits including W-9 mailing, B-notice, etc.
- Assists with conducting research as necessary using appropriate resources, e.g.upper management, various consulting services, and vendors to ensure the Credit Union is adhering to policy and/or various state and federal laws.
- Provides assistance to employees within the department and promotes teamwork among the group.
- Accomplishes individual and departmental goals and objectives.
- Participates and assists with various projects.
- May assist with the processing & verification of wires
- Assists with performing tax reporting corrections.
- Assists with helping members, co-workers & internal customers with questions, problems and other work-related matters in a courteous & timely manner.
- Adheres to department standards established in Account Servicing.
- Must consistently report to work on time, as scheduled.

Education and/or Experience
- At least 2 ½ years recent financial services experience
- Ability to obtain Membership Officer Authority within 6 months of entering position (includes successful completion of LFCU New Accounts training)
- A working knowledge of Credit Union/Financial Institution compliance & regulations
- A working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office products & Symitar
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Project management experience a plus
- Bachelor's Degree a plus
