The opportunity


We have an exciting career opportunity for an Accounting and Treasury Executive (ATE) to join our Strategy and Transactions team in the Cayman Islands. The ATE will help manage and support the cash office for the BBC region and will play an important role in our busy corporate restructuring practice. The successful candidate will report directly to the engagement Seniors, Managers, Senior Managers and Partners and will ensure that the firms Quality and cash handling policies are complied with at all times.


Your key responsibilities


  • Set-up all bank accounts and liaise with the case senior/manager to select the most appropriate bank, taking care to review bank mandates for any liability risk
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the banks in each jurisdiction
  • Prepare all necessary correspondence with banks, raising all outgoing payments, and arranging the transfer of all funds
  • Prepare periodic reports to leadership regarding the concentration of cash held across all cases by bank and by jurisdiction
  • Maintain the accounting system and prepare bank reconciliations on a timely basis and ensure reconciled items are cleared
  • Organize the investment of liquidation estate funds, including the review of available investment terms with a view to ensuring that the best rates of interest are obtained
  • Prepare statutory returns for review by the engagement team and filing the same with the relevant authorities; these will include periodic receipts & payments statements and final returns
  • Understand the concept of billing and time constraints and charge time to cases accurately
  • Liaise with technical staff and consult early where a problem arises
  • Ensure compliance with Anti Money Laundering Policy and document Know Your Client evidence on cases with cash distributions
  • Assist case staff with preparation of time analysis summaries for reports
  • Assist case staff with archiving of historical case files
  • Regularly reconcile bank accounts on a monthly or quarterly basis, as necessary and required
  • Regularly update case notes regarding investment options and terms, including reasons for non-interest-bearing accounts
  • Ensure compliance on funds held with SEC registered audit clients of the firm with agreed protocols

To qualify for the role you should have


  • An Associate’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of accounting/book-keeping experience; prior experience in a professional services/public accounting firm would be preferred
  • Proficient in the use MS Office and bookkeeping/accounting systems


Ideally, you’ll also have


  • Knowledge of specific regulations applying to the liquidations of solvent and insolvent companies
  • Excellent teaming, leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, as overtime and travel will be required
  • A dedication to teamwork and integrity within a professional environment
