Inside the Role
The Senior Accountant II – DDC Inventory Accounting position plays a key role in the DDC Accounting group. Key responsibilities include monthly closing and journal entries, including monitoring raw materials at the Redford plant. The Senior Accountant II completes the monthly exchange rate variance analysis and core expirations analysis. The Senior Accountant II also compiles the monthly Manufacturing Production Variance Analysis which is reviewed by management during the closing period prior to submission of MIF. The Senior Accountant II also compiles the Engine Contribution Margin and is responsible for preparing and researching the Excess and Obsolete reserve. Other responsibilities include BOM variance & IFRS Full Costing Variance Analysis and Product Line Contribution Margin.

Position offers a starting salary range of $74,500.00 - $95,000.00 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

Financial Reporting Tasks
  • Preparation and execution of financial reporting tasks and month-end close activities associated with DDC Inventory Accounting, analytical review of financial information, and review of operation of relevant systems, transactions and processes
  • Prepare journal entries, provide support to all existing outsourced transactions and processes and manage and validate all system interfaces feeding SAP cbFC
  • Prepare reporting on Inventory KPI’s. Research relevant operational issues around E&O reserves, core expirations and manufacturing production variances
General ledger accounting and financial analyses
  • Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations and financial analyses to ensure that financial transactions are recorded in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Support of monthly review of reconciliations to ensure accuracy and quality is maintained
  • Prepare analysis of exchange rate variance, engine contribution margin and IFRS Full Costing Variances as well as Product Line Contribution Margin
Business Partnering
  • Assist with the research of various accounting issues; resolve accounting/reporting issues to ensure proper accounting standards and best practices are applied
  • Provide training and support the communication of the accounting effects of transactions to the business partners
  • Work closely with Finance personnel to identify process improvements, internal control weaknesses, and Inventory efficiencies. Work with IT and Plant teams on validation of raw materials inventory
Methods, Processes and Systems
  • Support the research of relevant new accounting issues, proposal of appropriate accounting treatment and
  • Prepare documentation of new and/or existing processes and policies
  • Working with the business partners to identify process and/or system improvements
Reporting/communication of financial results and coordination of financial (regulatory) filings
  • Prepare the communication of financial results and key performance metrics (KPI's) to management for Financial Reporting
  • Prepare KPI reporting metrics presented to management for Financial Reporting and other relevant metrics.
  • Provide support on issues and exceptions to accounting management and the external audit team
  • Provide quarterly external audit support
Internal Control over Financial Reporting
  • Perform evaluation of Internal Controls over DDC Inventory and ensure that the necessary controls are documented and tested in accordance with the Company's internal requirements
Cross-functional project work
  • Work cross functionally with business units to implement new business processes in own area of responsibility as a result of changes in business or accounting requirements
  • Routinely monitor, track and report progress of implementation on difficult projects
  • Support organizational and/or system changes to meet Continuous Improvement and TOS objectives.
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university/college with 2-4 years of related experience OR An associate degree with 2-4 years of related experience
  • Advanced analytical tools, such as advanced Excel, PowerPivot and Power BI are used in this position
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to identify issues quickly, and effectively communicate throughout the organization
  • Willingness to focus on process improvement, standardization and continuous improvement of existing processes
  • Ability to work independently and ensure follow up and completion of relevant tasks and projects
  • Aptitude for working in a rapidly changing environment and ability to sort out priorities
  • Team player focused on adding value and achieving results
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • SAP, mainframe systems, and system interfaces in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred
