Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Plan group social activities
- Promote facility/community interaction
- Prepare and post a monthly calendar of activities for residents and visitors
- Indoor/outdoor activities with residents which may include daily walks
- Creative activities with residents including arts, crafts, music, drama, educational programs, and exercise activities
- One on one visits with residents
- Activities away from facility with residents
- Seek resident involvement in planning and implementation of the activities program
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
- Assess resident needs and develop resident activity goals for written care plans
- Encourage resident participation in activities and document outcomes
- Review goals and progress notes
- Properly document MDS reports and progress notes
- Encourage family and community support of the activities program
- Coordinate with administrator on departmental budget
- Attend Department Head, Care Plan and mandatory In Service meetings
Education/Work Experience
- High school diploma/GED
- Certification through NAAP (National Association of Activity Profession) or two years experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
