SUMMARY
The Administrative Support Specialist will provide support and information to Locally Employed (LE) Staff on a range of issues and facilitate ongoing outreach and support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support and information to LE Staff on a range of issues including HR (status of employment, pay, etc.), visa status, potential employment, etc. The information will be provided by the Bureau of Global Talent Management (GTM), Bureau of Consular Affairs and other bureaus as appropriate.
- Collect information including location statistics from LE Staff to help maintain a head count and facilitate ongoing outreach and support.
- Raise concerns to site coordinators, and other Department staff as appropriate.
- Relay evacuation requests to relevant task force and work with Kabul staff on movement of LE staff outside of Afghanistan.
- Connect with the Bureau of Administration Office of the Procurement Executive (A/OPE) or other offices and bureaus regarding employer support.
- Maintain simple databases.
- Provide periodic reports to the Government Technical Monitor for dissemination to appropriate bureaus and offices.
- Collect information including location statistics from LE Staff to help maintain a head count and facilitate ongoing outreach and support.
- Raise concerns to site coordinators, and other Department staff as appropriate.
- Provide topic-specific news media and social media monitoring and analysis
- Provide written and verbal media briefings
- Coordinate outreach activities with key stakeholder groups
- Develop strategic engagement strategies and external communications materials
- Develop and create outreach and engagement content to support international operations
- Conduct audience analysis to support strategic communications planning
- Advise and support training on media engagement
- Serve as a liaison safe-havened evacuees, and facilitate communications between all safe- haven officials and C/ARE.
- Communicate with internal and external customers through various channels (in-person, phone calls, virtual meetings, etc.) in English and one of the following: Dari (preferred), Farsi, Pashto.
- Receive and organize internal and external inquiries, and flag critical information to managers.
- Reads through or listens to material in one language, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning.
- Provide basic guidance to Afghan evacuees on completing government forms (social welfare benefits, financial forms, medical forms, etc.).
- Support the Outreach and Engagement Team on Town Halls with interpretations.
- Collect data (including but not limited to bio-data, addresses, financial information, etc.) that will be used to facilitate the travel of U.S. citizens, U.S. legal permanent residents, and Afghans out of Afghanistan.
- Enter collected data into new formats, as required.
- Receive and organize internal and external inquiries, and flag critical information to managers.
- Reads through or listens to material in one language, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning
- Communicate with internal and external customers through various channels (in-person, phone calls, virtual meetings, etc.) in English and one of the following: Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu; includes liaising with Afghan officials in Afghanistan on matters regarding travel documents, travel requirements, and updates to specific Afghan policies.
- Work with program managers and case management systems used by C/ARE team members
- Coordinate outreach and engagement with the COMMS Team
- Develop and create outreach and engagement content to support international operations in one of the following: Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu
- Due to language needs, may provide limited support to the Contact Center on an as-needed basis
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must pass a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) determination
- At least one year experience working in an embassy or consulate
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite)
- English language (written and spoken) communications skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision.
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is preferred but not required.
- Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $73,000 - $73,936 annually

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Fully Remote
Pursuant to U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, Cherokee Federal is now requiring that all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8th. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (i.e., Moderna or Pfizer) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (i.e., Johnson & Johnson). As a prospective employee, you will fall under this requirement and proof of vaccination will be needed for on-boarding, should you be selected.
