Essential Duties

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

Assists elderly and disabled individuals in activities and functions related to eating, drinking and ambulation, utilization of toilet facilities and taking medications.

Responsible for the safety and well being for disabled older adults attending the Adult Day Care Program.

Instructs and/or assists participants in performing structured recreational and social activities; engages and encourages disabled older adults to maximize their functioning potential, both mentally and physically.

Participates in the planning and implementation of care plans for participants on a quarterly basis and charting weekly progress of participants through written reports.

Reviews progress and care issues with caregivers as needed.

Assists with maintenance of program records as required by NC Adult Day Care and Adult Day Health Standards and Child and Adult Care Food Program Standards.

Monitors symptoms of ill participants in order to initiate necessary medical care from health care professionals.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalency and one (1) year of experience in the provision of adult day care services and/or personal care services to disabled adults. Must be 18 years of age or older. Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred. Candidate must be CPR/First Aid certified or able to be certified within the first 90 days of employment. Candidate selected must present medical evidence that they are free from communicable diseases or conditions after employment offer is extended and prior to employment, as authorized by North Carolina General Statute 131(D) 6 and Section 42(E) of the North Carolina Administrative Code. The candidate selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a pre-employment drug screening test prior to employment.
