JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This Aerospace Project Engineer position is a key member of the engineering team responsible for supporting the Electrical/Mechanical sector of our in AMS Licensing business. The Aerospace Project Engineer expertise is required to support the manufacture of a broad range of products predominantly in the military sector. Key expertise will be to have supplier development skills to support our growth in the Licensing business
- Willing to travel to support pre-award supplier audits
- Approve suppliers based on adequate capabilities and quality system integrity
- Issue and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers
- Participate in the creation and approval of First Article Inspection reports.
- Interpret and make decisions in accordance with US Government laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and AMS Group policies governing the purchase and contracting of aerospace parts.
- Ability to summarize complicated technical problems clearly, utilizing data to support proposed solutions
- Evaluation and distribution of proprietary technical data
- Identify and develop new suppliers capable of producing our licensed aerospace parts
- Participate in creation and approval of First Article Inspection Reports
- Follow all company quality standards, familiar with ISO 9001, AS 9100, ITAR, IPC-A-610 and J-STD requirement and policies. Strong continuous improvement mindset
- Actively participate in engineering design reviews, authorizing ECO/ECN as required
- Working knowledge of supply chain management practices
- Participate in identifying and developing suppliers capable of producing our licensed parts
- Support the execution of current contracts by providing technical oversite and interface with our supply chain
- Capable of interpreting subcontract provisions, technical data and reviewing documents for accuracy and conformance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Conduct supplier site visits as necessary to evaluate capabilities and compliance requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or ability to demonstrate 10 years of relevant experience in the Aerospace sector with heavy emphasis on supplier development.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Aerospace Engineering support of legacy aircraft parts ยท
- Ability to work a full-time schedule, be able to travel domestically to interface with suppliers and customers when required
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawing and manufacturing operation requirements
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow through skills associated with supplier development.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite, Autocad and familiar with ERP operating systems
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service, a willing team player and contributor
- Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment
