Analyst, Pipeline Development
Job description
Reporting to the Director of Pipeline Development, the Analyst is responsible for driving pipeline development efforts in coordination with the Director with an emphasis on pipeline analytics and portfolio creation and optimization. The Analyst ensures OSUF has a robust pool of rated potential donors, aligning interests and passions with philanthropic opportunities at Oregon State University.
The Analyst will synthesize and interpret data to generate leads for the organization, analyze the strength of the lead pool, refine qualification strategies and best practices, conduct wealth screenings, and support the Donor Experience Officer (DXO) program. The Pipeline Development Analyst will also assist with portfolio creation and optimization to ensure the health of OSUF’s institutional pipeline of donors. This position leverages predictive modeling, machine learning and other analytical tools to enhance data-driven decision making.
The position supports a diverse workload of transactional and recurring tasks and time-sensitive ad-hoc projects which require curiosity, flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to independently prioritize to meet deadlines.
The successful candidate will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the first day of employment.
Work Location
The location for this position can be the OSU Foundation’s Corvallis, Oregon office.
The Foundation offers a program called Core Work Days, a hybrid approach combining remote and in-office work days. Unless traveling for work, Foundation employees are in office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and work remotely, if preferred, on Monday and Friday.

- Identify 1,000 $25K+ rated leads through screening efforts, supporting our major gift Directors of Development (DOD), Assistant Directors of Development (ADOD), DXO and qualification efforts
- Ensure the DXO portfolios are targeting the right constituents to support OSUF’s institutional pipeline of donors
- Ensure the DXO proposal referral program is functioning properly to drive collaboration among DXOs, ADODs and DODs
- Develop enhancements for OSUF’s unit-based lead pools
Utilize predictive models, machine learning and other analytical tools to independently manage data and analysis projects to help drive lead generation and prioritize the top leads to add to portfolios for qualification by development staff.
Administer Foundation protocols for qualifications to ensure new donors are steadily introduced into the institutional pipeline and assist with the creation of new efforts to further support qualifications, specifically activities focused on advancing relationships with donors and potential donors to ensure movement through the various stages of development.
Analyze and interpret large data sets to identify leads for requests from OSUF/OSUAA staff to support strategy execution, portfolio optimization, and construction of lists for specific initiatives and events.
Coordinate with Analytics and Information Systems to deploy procedures to enhance lead generation and reporting for success in all stages of development; identify and implement additional data sources as necessary.
Maintain established lead pools by conducting regular review, analysis and reporting, and help maintain integrity of donor records by managing recurring data checks and executing assignment moves.
Meet with development officers to ensure a clear understanding of constituent base and fundraising goals; analyze unit pipelines and facilitate strategic pipeline-building discussions.
Partner with new development officers and the Relationship Insights team to develop and establish new portfolios.
Develop and implement strategies around wealth screenings to know when best to screen various constituent groups; upload screening results into Ellucian CRM Advance and conduct wealth screening verification.
Serve as subject matter expert on Pipeline Development policies and procedures, including qualification best practices, lead generation and the DXO proposal referral program.
Address special projects and functions as assigned by the Director of Pipeline Development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- The development process and the role played by pipeline development in supporting the development cycle
- Database usage, online search tools and understanding of key concepts, including retrieving and manipulating data and curiosity to explore data quality discrepancies that require further investigation
- Parameters (legal and institutional) regarding what information is public and ethical to use in fundraising research
- Creating processes to refine and streamline current practices to achieve higher productivity and return on investment
- High comfort level in learning new programs, systems and online services, including advanced computer skills with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, Tableau and more
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to express ideas well and communicate clearly
- Exercising strong analytical skills, including the collection, interpretation and evaluation of information
- Be aware of, control, and express one's emotions appropriately, and to handle interpersonal relationships maturely, thoughtfully and empathetically, including the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience in pipeline development, prospect research, or targeted based searches, specifically in a non-profit, legal, medical or other relevant setting. Candidates with equivalent experience or familiarity with proven pipeline development techniques may be considered. Education and experience equivalencies will be considered.
