Job description
This position is a high-performance, front-line sales position responsible for owning the sales process and driving measurable results for architectural products. The Architectural Sales Specialist is responsible for calling directly on architects & designers, end users and other influencers for the purpose of selling architectural products such as modular walls, modular power, access flooring and sound masking. They will proactively manage relationships with general contractors. In addition, this position requires a proven record of architectural or building construction sales achievement, as well as a working knowledge of the construction process and application of architectural products.
Essential Job Functions
- Build and manage relationships with customers, general contractors and key influencers
- Recognize service opportunities to build relationships and grow accounts
- Easily move between business acumen (i.e., financial conversations) and design discussions (i.e., design sensibility)
- Develop new business by being self-motivated, self-directed and willing to accept responsibility for results
- Provide accurate sales forecast
- Excellent team player and can easily engage others to support the broader strategy
- Comfortable with and can excel in an environment that is detail-oriented and complex
Experience and Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an outside sales role calling on a varied client base
- Previous experience in selling construction products, flooring, office furniture or design services a plus.
- Proven experience with sales strategy and determining how to best position one's offering to support the needs of the customer and the strategy
- Strong understanding of how to support the design process through architects and designers as well as the commercial real estate audience
- Strong business acumen, professional presence, excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills. Ability to utilize these skills both in internal and external work-related activities.
- Must have a strong understanding of the interior construction process, including technical knowledge of products, buildings and building codes, as well as familiarity with construction contract law and project risk analysis
