Max's in Auburn has an immediate need for an Assistant Manager. The position of Assistant General Manager (AGM) works in the restaurant, both front of the house and back of the house. The AGM oversees and coordinates the planning, organizing, training and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation.
The position maintains work schedules as determined by the GM and during such schedules is responsible for restaurant operations including front-of-the-house (“FOH”), and back-of-the-house (“BOH”) when needed. Ongoing customer satisfaction is a key criteria of this position with high importance placed on strong guest satisfaction (scores), as well as food presentation and food quality. Strict adherence to restaurant policies and procedures shall be maintained with regard to food presentation and quality, with new procedures created and developed in coordination with the GM as needed. The position requires strong food expediter skills, which will be deployed on a regular basis. Strong and versatile leadership skills are required to foster a well-trained and motivated staff – continuously developing and encouraging all staff to feel the passion for Max’s. The AGM has the delegated authority to run the restaurant for the General Manager making sure all departments are trained, staffed and managed.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant should possess a strong knowledge of service and food, liquor and beverage, generally involving at least three years of FOH operations and/or assistant management positions.
- Applicant should possess the knowledge regarding food storage and distribution (FIFO) First in First out for freshness and spoilage.
- Applicant must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the restaurant’s trading area.
- Applicant must possess superior leadership and training skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities (big versus small rocks).
- Applicant must be able to take over and be in charge of the banquet/catering department when the banquet manager is out on a job, on a day off or is not working for any reason.
- Applicant must possess excellent fundamental math skills and the ability to operate a cash register or POS system.
- Applicant must possess personal computer skills including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Applicant must possess an ability to prioritize responsibilities and tasks (big versus small rocks).
- Applicant must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Applicant must have Food Handlers and Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) certifications.
- Applicant must be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Applicant must be age 21 or older.
