Position Overview:

The Associate Athletic Director, Facilities & Event Management serves as a member of the Athletic Director's Senior Management Team helping to direct, plan, and organize the university's 17 intercollegiate athletic programs and support functions.

Telework:

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Management of UMBC Athletic facilities including the planning, scheduling and coordination of all activities and operations for Athletic events, rentals and campus programming for Athletic fields and facilities.
  • Responsible for management and supervision of the maintenance, repair, appearance and general upkeep of all athletic facilities.
  • Provides direction and administrative oversight for athletic facilities and event management staff.
  • Administers the athletic facility maintenance budget to continually provide clean, safe and secure facilities and grounds for all student-athletes, coaches, staff, spectators and guests.
  • Serves as Athletics liaison with the UMBC Office of Facilities Management, coordinating athletic facility maintenance, repairs and capital projects.
  • Responsible for the management of home athletics contests to include arranging for parking attendants, security, game officials, custodial services, visiting team accommodations, scoreboard, public address, ushers, ticket takers and other temporary event staff, developing and maintaining a strong customer service culture and delivering a safe, welcoming and entertaining game environment for student-athletes and fans.
  • Coordinates athletics master scheduling for team practices, events and camps & clinics.
  • Liaison with third party facility management company (OVG) for coordinating scheduling of athletic department games, practices and other events in CEI Arena and the daily use of the facility for athletic team, administration and support functions.
  • Responsible for developing strategies to increase revenue for facility rentals, using scheduling efficient planning and development of new rental clientele.
  • Serves as Tournament Manager for NCAA and America East events hosted by UMBC.
  • Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of any Athletics-owned vehicles used for team and staff travel.
  • Supervises Athletic Equipment Manager and equipment room operations.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Sports Administration, Education or a related field
  • At least three years of experience in facilities management, event management or a related area

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Up to five years of experience in facilities management, event management or a related area is preferred
