What is the Opportunity?
- Subject Matter Expert, within U.S. Credit Risk Review (CRR) with a U.S. and global impact and facilitator of cross platform collaboration for ONE RBC.
- Provide independent, objective risk assessment and evaluation of the stakeholders on the effectiveness and adequacy of credit risk management practices, internal controls, credit risk ratings and corporate governance processes in RBC focusing on Wholesale and Wealth Management Credit Risk, within primarily RBC’s Combined U.S. Operations, as well as applicable global operations.
- While remaining independent, work with CRR and Unit management in achieving business objectives by providing insights and creating solutions to improve function and business operations and ensuring appropriate remedial action is undertaken. Results ultimately impact shareholders, employees and customers.
- Key stakeholders include the GRM Wholesale Credit Risk, as well as, ultimately, the U.S. Risk Committee (of the board of RBC US Group Holdings LLC), auditors, regulators, RBC executives and wholesale lending units.
- Engagement is defined as a specific assignment, task, or review activity (eg. target/continuous reviews), and may include multiple tasks or activities designed to accomplish a specific set of related objectives.
Leadership/People Management
- A member of a team of credit risk professionals responsible for large, highly complex engagements or strategic projects that impact the organization as a whole.
- Collaborate within the CRR team to support the successful execution of reviews and other projects.
- Able to work in a dynamically changing environment and demonstrates analytical mindset
Support the CRR senior management as needed through effective communication and maintain a proactive role in self-development and learning.
Credit Risk Review Practice
- Participate in the implementation of CRR reviews related to global Wholesale Credit Risk and Wealth Management, ensuring that credit risk reviews conform to regulatory and RBC policy requirements.
- Supports the Examiners in Charge (EIC) and Directors with the execution of the risk-based annual plans and reporting to GRM-Credit and business senior stakeholders.
- Through strong/growing understanding of the assigned portfolio, including changes to the regulatory and business environments, identify and report potential weaknesses at the borrower and/or portfolio level and recommend an appropriate remediation plan to the relevant business/support units.
- Implements the planned credit reviews and continuous monitoring to conclude on the effectiveness of credit risk underwriting and credit risk management, adherence to policies and procedures/processes, and ensure effective control solutions are implemented.
- Interface with internal and external clients to ensure proper identification, documentation and resolution of all risks impacting the loan portfolio.
- Assists the EIC to ensure adequate, risk-based coverage/sampling with the Target & Continuous Monitoring Reviews within the U.S. Wholesale loan and Wealth Management portfolios and facilitates effective communication with GRM-Credit Management and the business on CRR’s evaluation of risk rating processes, credit risk frameworks, risk management practices, as well as performance in key higher risk /emerging issues.
- Offer effective challenge to management and ensure the development of appropriate management action plans to address identified Observations, deficiencies, and CRR risk rating changes, and ensure timely, effective implementation of corrective actions.
- Provide consulting, advisory services or carry out special tasks at the request of key stakeholders, which are consistent with our function to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management controls, oversight and governance processes.
- Initiates collaboration with, and assesses the effectiveness of, key risk management strategies across the 3 lines of defense units.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $80,000 - $125,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
