New York City Public Agency focusing on construction and real estate. This is a 6 month contract position

Specific Skills Required for Position:

MUST HAVE REAL ESTATE AND LAND USE EXPERIENCE - The Senior Attorney will support the NYC School Construction Authority with all real property transactions, developer deals, leasing and other land use actions. The Senior Attorney will coordinate with Real Estate Services staff, External Affairs, Construction Management, and Architecture & Engineering concerning the acquisition and leasing of real property to support the SCA’s mission of designing safe, attractive, and environmentally sound public schools in New York City where a need has been identified.

Responsibilities Include:

• Serving as real estate leasing and transaction counsel concerning property for the purpose of building, expanding or rehabilitating NYC public schools and related locations.
• Independently negotiating and drafting leases, purchase and sale agreements, and various other complex commercial real estate documents, including lease amendments, ground leases, condominium documents, assignments of leases; SNDAs; easements, MOUs, ZLDAs, restrictive declarations, and other documents.
• Conducting legal research and providing counsel to Real Estate Services staff, Landlord-Tenant Relations staff, the New York City Department of Education; and SCA senior management regarding all real estate matters.
• Reviewing and approving zoning waivers, zoning exhibits, and other real estate documents.
• Regularly reporting to the General Counsel and Executive Staff on the progress of real estate transactions in support of the SCA’s capital plan.
• Conducting legal research and writing memoranda to provide guidance and recommendations to SCA staff.
• Provide general legal support to the Authority as required.
• Assisting the General Counsel with other related duties, as assigned.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $78.00 per hour

• 8 hour shift
