The Automotive Technology Director will be responsible for the creation, implementation and continuity of the college’s automotive technology programs. These programs will be ASE-certified programs to develop technicians for gas, electric and hybrid vehicle maintenance and repair. The Director will be responsible for: curriculum development, budget development and oversight (including grant writing and management), equipment purchasing, lab oversight, supervision of program personnel including the Program Coordinator and training facilitators. The Director will lead the college’s regional initiative with automotive programming and will develop and manage contracts and articulation agreements with regional employers, other community colleges and regional BOCES. Additionally, the Director will be the training facilitator for a portion of the classes offered in the programs.Occasional meetings at different CCC locations and in the region will be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events will be required. This position requires work in office, classroom and automotive lab settings. Must be physically able to operate a variety of types of office and other equipment including computer, copier, audio-visual equipment, lathes, grinders, presses, other automotive machinery and equipment, etc. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work; position requires walking, standing, stooping, reaching, crouching, fingering, etc. for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of approximately one hundred pounds. Incumbent must perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Curriculum Development/Oversight - 20%Develop curriculum that aligns with appropriate Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications for Auto Maintenance and Light Repair, Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, and Light Duty Hybrid Electric Vehicle Specialist.Align curriculum with other appropriate industry certifications such as Snap-On and National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC). Coordinate with training facilitators and the Executive Director on the assessment and review of curricular offerings.Collaborate with training facilitators and interfacing departments on materials for program reviews, the program accreditation processes as well as all future reaccreditation processes. Develop and manage program advisory board with representation from regional employers and education partners. Program Administration - 30%Develop and manage program budget, including grant resources.Complete all program reports, including grant reporting.Prepare and administer proposals for additional funding and/or equipment sources.Coordinate with Institutional Advancement on grants and/or donations, including development of specifications, aiding with donor recognition, facilitating the purchasing process, and appropriate project closeout. Develop Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) or contracts with regional employers, regional community colleges and regional BOCES locations for program delivery. Develop articulation agreements with regional BOCES and, potentially, other colleges. Provide leadership on instruction and assessment. Complete and maintain college certification process with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Snap-On, National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) and others, as appropriate.Assist with recruitment and retention efforts that support the program, including but not limited to high school visits, school tours, open house, and coordinating other on-campus events at the regional community colleges. Coordinate marketing efforts for the program. Together with the Program Coordinator, oversee all aspects of new student admission to the program, including orientation programming and monitoring student schedules, including work-based learning opportunities. Resolve student issues/problems and recommend appropriate resolutions Supervision - 10%Hire, train, supervise and evaluate automotive training facilitators.Determine workload/courses to be taught; assign appropriate training facilitators. Supervise Program Coordinator for recruitment, student advisement, and work-based learning opportunities. Supervise student workersTraining - 30%Teaching any/all of the courses related to the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications for Auto Maintenance and Light Repair, Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, and Light Duty Hybrid Electric Vehicle Specialist;Utilize teaching/training techniques designed for adult learning; Follow all college guidelines for course delivery, student conduct and administration. Administrative Duties - 10%Collaborate with the Executive Director of Workforce Education and Academic Pathways with strategic planning, process improvement, and meeting enrollment/fiscal goals.Serve on college committees as appropriateAttend recruitment events to promote programParticipate in community activities designed to promote the program and the college.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology or relevant field with 2 years related experience; Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications for Auto Maintenance and Light Repair, Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, and Light Duty Hybrid Electric Vehicle Specialist or equivalent certifications; 3-5 years of work experience in the automotive technology field; Must have reliable transportation for travel between sites..
