AV Field Installation Lead/Senior Technician

SUMMARY: Collaborating with Intellicom’s AV Project Manager and AV Engineers, the AV Field Installation Lead is responsible for timely and complete installation of sophisticated commercial AV systems. This position’s responsibilities include leading installation crews in installing, configuring, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting AV systems for a variety of projects. Exhibits professionalism and supports a positive customer experience at all times through successful execution of Intellicom AV installations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fulfill senior field technician role for Intellicom AV team on all AV installations.
  • Responsible for achieving customer satisfaction in the Field Operations process by meeting established project deadlines while fulfilling Intellicom quality and efficiency standards.
  • Communicates with AV project manager and/or Intellicom project management team to fulfill project SOW requirements on all project-related issues requiring attention.
  • Participates in pre-installation planning and post-installation recap sessions.
  • Ability to perform field-readiness review of system designs entering field installation, to advise project manager of any incorrect or missing system components.
  • Tasks and leads teams of technicians on a project installation, both on and off installation sites.
  • Accountable for ensuring that tasks including rack assembly, equipment placement, and equipment mounting are performed in accordance with AV design drawings.
  • Performs configuration of equipment in AV systems for proper function.
  • Ensures, documents, and verifies completion of SOW and installation tasks.
  • During and after installations, completes administrative requirements of system installation and configuration, including: documents test results for quality standards fufillment; reports system anomalies; verifies as-built drawings from field; certifies and documents system configurations; documents AV LAN network information.
  • Responsible for equipment inventory and job stock transfers during projects.
  • On occasion, attends client/contractor hosted project status meetings during ongoing installations as Intellicom’s company representative.
  • Provide AV support for existing Intellicom AV systems as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 5+ years experience in field installation with AV, communications, network, production, or other integrated technology systems
  • Knowledge of the current AV industry with 3+ years of commercial AV experience
  • Documentation of technical certifications, and a willingness to obtain new technical certifications pertaining to system installation and commissioning proficiency. CTS or equivalent certification/CTS readiness required. CTS-I certification a plus.
  • Ability to interpret, evaluate, and correct AV system schematic drawing sets, including signal flow, floor plan, and RCP system representations, for field installation crews.
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and produce system documentation for AV installations.
  • Excellent, polished customer interaction skills. Ability to communicate professionally with customers and partners as an Intellicom company representative.
  • Accustomed to dealing with general contractors, with a demonstrated ability to interface with different trades on installation sites.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to recognize a problem/potential problem within high stress environment and report to leadership
  • Energetic with a desire to learn and develop new skills in this position.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience with current-generation AV technologies, manufacturers, and hardware.
  • In-depth knowledge of integrated AV system components. including:
  • Video projectors, displays, and video walls (LG/Panasonic/Planar/NEC)
  • Video matrix and network-based video switchers
  • Video scalers (TVOne/Barco/Decimator)
  • Audio consoles (Allen & Heath)
  • Audio power amplifiers
  • Digital signal processors (QSC, Biamp, ClearOne)
  • Control systems (Crestron, Extron, QSC)
  • AV/PC interfaces
  • Wireless presentation technology (Barco/Crestron/Kramer)
  • Web collaboration platforms
  • Digital video recorders
  • Digital signage (Brightsign)
  • Network equipment (Cisco)
  • Power conditioning equipment;
  • Other components of integrated commercial AV systems.
  • Experience with troubleshooting commercially integrated AV systems.
  • Experience with loading and verifying control code and system configuration programs.
  • In-depth understanding of cable terminations: ability to perform and instruct others to perform solder, crimp, compression, and punchdown connections for audio, video, network, control, and power devices
  • Knowledge and understanding of all cable media: ability to distinguish and properly specify coaxial (full and mini), CATx copper, fiber optic, solid and stranded copper audio/control cable, low voltage AC and DC power cabling (120v), and multi-conductor/multiformat cable types
  • Knowledge of field cable handling: ability to instruct technicians in proper cable pull techniques
  • Rack and field Termination: ability to follow schematics, maintain uniform cable dressing and secure system connections, and verify completion in AV racks
  • Able to mount AV equipment such as wall displays and speakers in field
  • Able to read and understand AV schematics and renderings
  • Able to use hand and power tools
  • Able to use testing equipment for AV and data signals
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Teams/Visio/Sharepoint), drafting software (Bluebeam/AutoCAD) , and AV software for configuration of systems as required

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
